The brains behind kitehero/camrig has been very hard at work creating a "better" line mount for the gopro camera.

This is his latest prototype. I personally think it is a huuuuge improvement!

Wow, that is a great improvement. Nice riding by the way. Cool to see moves from that point of view. You make it look too easy.

Any idea what it's going to be called/when it will be available? I need to get a gopro line mount this season.

Hey Stringy!

What will be the benefits over the current line mount?

well nak,
when I first made the original line mount, I wanted to come up with a way to take a picture from your lines. While the current mount does this well, it doesn't hold the camera like I really wanted it to. After developing mounts for Contour cameras, I found that balancing the weight of the camera was essential to it preventing wobble.
I still find that the contour Roam camera is probably the best cameras to film from the lines because it doesn't require a housing and is much lighter weight and its form factor makes it so slim. okay I'm starting to ramble now.
back to this new design. I designed it to 1.) not wobble ( watch christian's video again and see if you can find any instability in the frame) and 2.) film at the correct widescreen ratio (current production line mount films in portrait mode Sad...).
christian is also testing these new silicone plugs I designed to fit into the arms of the mount. these allow the camera to 1.) be completely secure at all times even in the event of line tension loss, 2.) prevent steering lines from potential snag with line mount, and 3.) you can move the camera up the lines like christian does in this video and it will remain in that location without sliding back down the lines (it's about 3m up the lines).
The overall design intent is finalized, I'm just making small refinments and these take more time than you think. each time I make a change I need to make a new prototype to confirm the change and that is a significant effort, especially when the wind forecast is good.
