Just a safety check note for those of you planning on hitting the water to catch the forecasted wind we're expecting today and tomorrow.
NOAA has a high level river warning notification out for all of the tributary rivers feeding into the Columbia this weekend due to the high amount of rain and the expected warm temps.

...WARM WEATHER COMBINED WITH COLD AND SWIFT RIVERS WILL POSE A THREAT TO RECREATIONAL WATER USERS SUNDAY AND MONDAY...
WINTER AND SPRING RUNOFF FROM MELTING SNOW COMBINED WITH THE RECENT RAIN HAS SWELLED STREAMS AND RIVERS...AND INCREASED WATER FLOWS. THESE HIGH FLOWS COMBINED WITH EXPECTED SUNNY AND WARMER WEATHER SUNDAY AND MONDAY PRESENT A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR RECREATIONAL WATER USERS. THE COLD AND SWIFT RIVERS WILL BE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS FOR THOSE THAT ENTER THE WATER. USE EXTRA CAUTION IN OR NEAR AREA RIVERS AND LAKES. |
Nothing to be freaked about, but just a note to remember that the increased currents will not only be awesome to ride, but will require some quick body dragging for board recovery, and to be cautious of floating debris (ie semi submerged logs), especially in the vicinity of any river mouths (ie - White Salmon, Hood River and klikitat).
Otherwise Event Site and Marina are open for safe and smart kiters, and the wind forecast is looking pretty good for a nice weekend of sessioning the river.
Thank you
