I am with Shymac on this one - there will be days when the swell will break down the line but there will also be days with variable depth death cookie swell due to the fluctuating depth. Sooner or later though, it will all get swept away...

I've been channeling Slither's Mom and have about 12 sessions into the season so far but yesterday's punchy 8m Gorge sesh got me thinking about Shy's comment;

Hardly.. The swell is here!! This year will have the biggest and best swell the Gorge has ever seen.. Mark my words... Wink

Any 4.5 - 7m day will produce swell bigger then the white salmon and the surrounding areas have ever seen! Some spots are going to produce some major conditions, for river swell with very high wind. Be wary of surrounding kiters, line up procedures and that damn green buoy out there.. On high water days like today it will submerge and bury for a few secs and pop back up.. You will lose track of it and you don't want to get caught up with that thing.. Or a least I don't.

The WS Bridge swell is still funky, but when it's good it seems to be coming from different spots in a much larger footprint and variety. Still trying to figure it out, and I'm a shitty kiter, but yesterday was the first time I've ridden a swell, kite unassisted, from above the top of Wells down past Kid beach. A Kook conveyor belt to say.

It reminds me of 2007 when Mother Nature expanded the Sandbar by 26 acres. Is the Condit Dam removal the 2nd big "change" to find more room for kiteboarders to enjoy the goods. Anyone else out there thinking the same????

If yesterday was any indication seemed less defined and messy swell compared to years past.

But 1 day is not enough to judge...
