Is that allowed? Is it safe?? Can a trailer be pulled out onto the sand? Fires? If not, something close by?

Seems to me that a 5-8 session followed by a campfire and a beer sounds about right

there is a nice camp ground in Clatskanie with showers etc. You can get out of the wind. watch out for the natives at night partying. I drive my truck on the sand but have not seen trailers etc on the sand. drop air out of your tires and use plywood and you could get anywhere. Not sure if camping is allowed but i have never seen anyone to regulate it. Not much wood out there to burn for a fire so you would have to bring your own.

One can camp in those trees. Not sure about fires, probably fine. Is it safe? Well when the methhead lurkers start telling you that ''you sure do got a purdee mouth" it's time to start running.

its fine. there are folks out there that you wouldn't let watch your kids or do your taxes, but they're mostly friendly. It stays windy at night, tents get cold. Do it and then you'll know fershur. Kill spot

Hi ,
I have camped there a few times and had no problems . truck and camper , also hoteled in Clatskanie .
There can be quaders ripping it up on the sand . I marked my spot so they could see I had lines laid out , no problem lots of room .
There are no facilities , no sweat as you have a trailer , and wood is scarce so bring some .
There is a wide section of asphalt but it's part of the road use through there too . If your off to the edge it should work .
Kiting at Jones is great , over behind the island is super fun .

Nailed it! Jones is rad and camping seems to be no problem. Most of the locals have always been pretty friendly to me. I would stay up on the asphalt until you check it out. i have seen people post up in the trees with trailers too.

This time of year I always see several fisherman with tent trailor near water. There is one particular douche bag that always spends an entire month camping, fishing, yelling at kiters. Had a few tiffy words with him before. Just keep far away from his fishing lines and your okay. Be respectful of the fisherman and give them extra space.

Dont be that guy who buzzes his kite over the beach, you might get fireworks shot at your kite, dead serious.... better fireworks than something louder.

So to sum it up as long as your safe and respectful you wont have any problems. most the fisherman love watching us kite, gives them more to look at than their lines and a beer can.

I camp out there several times a summer. it a great place and I hope this nice weather this weekend gives us some nice Jones wind..

So much nicer to just camp at the Claskanie city park. Walk to dinner, walk to morning coffee, hang out at a local bar. Safe and peaceful, quiet.

Thanks Kip! So, what's the deal at the city park? Camping fee? Does someone come around to collect? Or should I pre-pay at city hall or ???

Any additional info appreciated!

Sorry, I'll probably not get out there for at least a week or two.

But I'll try to post when I'm on-site.

There's a very nice old retired couple living in a double-wide there that collect the fees. Can't recall right now what the fee was, but it was almost nothing. I think there's a box to drop $$ into, or the OG will come by at some point. Nice peaceful quite place. Also tent site along the creek under the trees.

I was out there today on the 4th. It was a nice 12 meter day starting at about 3 pm. The forecast shows that Jones is supposed to get a little stronger each day through Sunday. Should be good Thursday thru Sunday.

I figured it was going to be packed with ATVs and firework campers - but Jones was almost dead today - a few ATVs, a few fisherman and a few kiters. It gave me plenty of room to test out the waverunner launch from the beach - thanks for your help John!

Gracias Kip! Sounds Awesomundo to me! I'll be checking it out later this summer. Happy Trails, Rob
