that is not lyle, that is just the spot where the klickitat meets the columbia for a few of the shots. you can launch from the east side of the klickitat. There were some concrete blocks with anchors from last year. Just beware and respectful of the tribal peepes on the other side. We had talked to the indian police last year and they were fine. Beware of the homeless over there!!!!! |

Lyle is totally good, so long as you don't cross the tracks. A small kayak launched from the east side of the mouth is the ideal way. The county owns the boat ramp and everything west from there, so the ramp is available for public use. There is a hobo camp there as well, so don't leave anything valuable. Sounds awesome doesn't it!

hey eric thanks for the explanation.
I have a couple of friends on 5 liners up here and have modified their gear so the 5th has a custom stopper to prevent the bars from running too far. not the safest setup for less experienced riders, but saves mucho time and grief when you have to recover from letting go of the bar. |
Yeah the slingy 5th line set up has the stopper where the leader line meets the regular kite line. For a custom you want the bar to be able to travel just far enough to depower the kite, too far and you could wrap the wing tip. If it is not a C kite you will have trouble getting wind to catch the wing when it is on it's back so you will want to shorten the stopper so that the kite doesn't fully fall on it's back. But in that case you are not fully flagging the kite so kind of defeats the purpose. |
