Hi,

Just purchased a used BMW 325xi Sport Wagon. Still keeping my smelly van! But for the wagon, I will need a roof rack system. I am a skier, snowboarder, kiter and biker. Any advice or preferences out there on rack systems?

Paul

I have Yakima and Thule boxes on Yakima bars. I think I would have liked the square Thule bars better since the round Yakima bars bow cause they're long, but I think I like the Yakima box design(latches and clamps)better except Yakima(USA Company) is made in Mexico and Thule(Swedish Company) made in Conneticut. I would go Thule. One more thing don't buy just a board or ski rack, they make too much wind noise. On the other hand I have a Yakima Board/ski rack to sell.

Yakima or Thule.

Should take a look at the profile of the tower and bar combination for your car and see which you like better, quality and use is pretty much the same and most attachments can be intermingled between the two companies. The only reason to really pick one and stay with mostly that brand is to simplify your lock situation. If you stay in the same brand you can use the same lock cores between accessories and towers and have a 'universal' key. Most boxes come with their own key/core set so you'll already have to deal with at least two keys.

good hunting.

I am biased. We are a Thule dealer and if you want my opinion I would ask you to call me.
Very Happy
