I need some advice on mounting a gopro on my 4-line kite. I've seen both the line mount and strut attachment options online. I was thinking of getting the line mount version but was concerned about the gopro sliding down the lines when the kite is up. Will it stay in place or will it slide right to the swivel for the front lines?

Thanks

hi caps,
I am that guy who makes those line mounts.
I designed the line mount to fit onto your two front lines just above where they connect to your pulley just above your bar. on bars with shorter front lines, the mount resides right at the "y" of the front lines.
The design allows the camera to sit in one specific spot due to the angle of your lines.
the only time that you will ever experience the mount moving up your lines is if you lose line tension on your front lines (crashing your kite, hindenberg, etc.)
there are some tricks you can do to keep the line mount farther up on your lines, but it was really intended to sit right at where the the two front lines connect.

Jim,
I just used my line mount with my Contour Roam in the Powder at Skyline this weekend.
It works great and gonna be lots of fun videos.
What are the tricks you use to keep the mount up a little higher on the lines?
Also I know there is some software used to rotate the kiter to keep a "level horizon"
Any suggestions on the software?

Thanks, stringy. I'm going with the line mount.

Another post had mentioned how the top heavy camera wants to swing down and that they mount theirs upside down and select the option on the gopro to flip the image. Is that an issue? Seems like the lines may mess with the video though.

Cheers

if you prefer to mount your lines a little higher, you can get away with pushing the mount up, but it might not stay there. one thing to help this maintain its position is by securing the mount with a piece of bungee or even a rubber band. just wrap it around the mount arm and the line putting enough tension against the line to keep it from sliding. just keep in mind that the higher you push the mount up, the more likely you will put a strain on the mount by putting pressure against the lines. too much pressure could significantly affect your mount. just keep an eye on it when trying it.
as for keeping the rider horizon good, I tend to ride a little different when I know I want to get some footage with the line mount. keep your kite parked and don't move it much. haha
anyhow, I'm headed to baja in the morning. I won't be kiting yet, but will have a shitload of prototype line mounts with me so if anyone is willing to test them out, I'll be at palapas ventana. looking forward to it.

I made a kite strut mount out of the gopro head strap and it was cool just to see the view from the kite but the way the camera is designed it is just too far away to see anything but a little stick figure. From the videos I've seen the line mount looks like the way to go.

We used duck tape to keep it from moving on my Windwing lines the day before yesterday on Maui, too much and it's in the way but it was my first time.

That was when I first went out and one of the back lines got caught in the camera mount. I edited out the duct tape and got a few goos shots.
