Does anyone have an update (and new photos) on the White Salmon sand bar?

I sailed by it last week.

No photos, but it is SOLID.

My vote would be that it is here to stay.

I am surprised no one has floated the idea of having a sand bar "christening" party in the spring if the sand bar stays. How often are you going to see a new feature like this form in the Gorge? These things need to be celebrated.

New sand bar, kegs, bonfire and ????

If Monkey pops for a keg...I'll add in another. If the new Salmon Bar survives Spring run-off it is worthy of a celebration event.......but it's still early.....and don't count Monkey's prediction out yet. Very Happy

No sandbar will form at the mouth of the White Salmon. I am absolutely certain of it. I am so certain, I will commit to buying two kegs of beer for the christening party if a new sandbar forms. In fact, I'll commit to buying Nak a new quiver of kites every year for twenty years if a sandbar forms there. That's how certain I am.

Mark...

Did you tell them how unstable it really is out there. I heard you and Tom just about sank up to your necks... Right now the water is very very low... the sediment is still very unstable... I tried walking out on it about a week ago... F'ing screw that dumb idea. It formed fast, and it could disappear just as fast. Only time will tell.

Yeah the first launch and landing was like walking on Mousse. Very challenging to pump up your kite while the pump and you slowly sank deeper and deeper. (was worried about Gman as he is not that tall to begin with Wink )

Have walked out on it several times since. Some days hard some days not.

But the point is... if you have launched and landed it is officially here. May not stay, but the Beer bet was won..... Drunk

According to this report. 1 million cubic yards of material has already left the dam site. I got a feeling most of it ended up at the mouth or near the mouth of the White Salmon. My vote is it's here to stay.

I like beer! Especially free beer!

What kind of kites will Nak get? Sweeeeet!

From what I saw there wasn't a stipulation on how long a sand bar would be around. It was written a sand bar would not develop!

Beeeeeer! Yummmmm! Wink
