Hi,

Looking for a March wave destination other than Maui (want to try somewhere new). What would be your recommendation?

Thanks,

Jp

Puerto Rico?

SE Florida is good wind in March, but good waves are iffy.

Yo Paul,

If warm waves are not a criteria I would head south to California. Santa Cruz down to Santa Barbara should be on in March.

Also, Baja should be good. Laughing

How much wind and how often does it blow that time of year in Cali? 5/4?

Looking for head high stuff, doesn't need to be huge. I'd rather hunt the wave then have it hunt me.

4/3 suit is fine from SF-SB. You won't get wind every day, but there's plenty of great waves to surf along the entire coast when it's glassy. Santa Cruz has some good beginner surf spots like Capitola or Cowell's if you're just learning. Head to Waddell to kite.

Not many people kite in Monterey. Santa Barbara has good wind, but the waves are usually small unless you head out past Pt Conception to Jalama...great place to camp, surf, and kite.

SF is on my radar for sure. Plus I can drive there. Does anyone know anything about Peru in March? Wind? Wave? Have some friends heading there end of March.

Wind season for northern Peru coast is April to October, so could be iffy at end of March. I went there last year for June and July, and it was windy 15-25 knots virtually everyday. The best kitesurfing I have ever experienced and it was all perfect left points that peeled forever.
