Any insight about kiting around Newport or Lincon city? Down from Alaska for a week.
I'm in the neighborhood, with a 14 and a 9, I would like to go when this storm let's up, anybody else kite around here?
Thanks
B

It's winter - with the storms and flooding it's totally sketch. Ocean has a ton of debris. We finally got out at Siletz bay the other day, but it's hard to find a day with wind that'll match the tides! South storm winds are pretty gusty there.

Good luck!

Kited Agate Wayside last Saturday on pure west winds on a 10m and my buddy Steve was on an 8m. Super fun doing speed burns up and down the beach in about 6 inches to 3 feet of water and small whitewater lines pushing towards the beach. Occasionally a big storm surge would push in with the 18 foot swell to make things interesting. A couple of times I found myself on the beach side of the surge and would have to jump over it to get to the safer, ocean side of the surge and then would be looking over the edge of this frothy beast at exposed sand on the other side. Wind was super steady and clean, I love wintertime west winds. They are really rare, but are the best that winter on the Oregon coast has to offer up!!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Is that the lagoon at lincon city? Is it a sandy bottom for the most part? where are the good spots to launch? Can you kite in and out of the lagoon?
Thanks

Definitely stay away from the mouth of the bay. During tide changes the water rushes through there pretty quick. If you fall or lose your board you could be in bad trouble.

Also the sea lions like to sit on the point and they are protected so don't get to close to them.
