Kona winds picked up today and are suppose to blow the next couple of days. Had a great session on the 9 RPM. Fun kiting in 75 degree water with only about 6 kiters in the water. Super coool crew and very helpful an friendly filling you in on the various launches etc. Wish I could post pics from the iPhone. Will have to wait for late this week when I return home to try to make it work. Surfed this am in paia 3-4 foot faces and off shore winds. Headed back to kihei and kited from 2-430 or so and had a fun time. Sure I nice being in trunks and a tank top to kite. Beautiful scenery on the water to enjoy also. Kind of cool when you are kiting and a monster whale breaches the water. Quite a combo with spectacular eye candy around. Will certainly be moving over here when I can pack up from the work career:-)

Today started on the 12 and was underpowered and moved to another kiters 14 and the game was on. Now 3 margaritas later the wind has picked up to possible 12 conditions but I dont think kiting now is the best option. I keep trying to tell myself I should not go but I am struggling with the decision. Hope the kona winds continue tomorrow. Today was on shore at the park and it would be nice if it could blow a little bit more easterly as it's easier to tack up the shoreline for awesome views:-) wish all were here to get a piece:-)!!

This has been my first Kona wind since I moved here.

What's funny is that the house is set up for the regular wind direction. But when the Kona starts all of our shit gets blown all over the house.

Now that the wind has cut out it's just damn hot and muggy.

Here come the bugs.

I'll second how wonderful the Maui kiters have been. SO friendly, welcoming and willing to lend a hand or suggestion.

Hoping for more Kona tomorrow!

Kona is definitely on. 20-26 now and looking like it has a little more east in I like Sunday. Yesterday was on shore and very wired for me. See what happens when the sun rises here soon. It is starting to pop over Haleakala now:-)

Packed up at sunrise while it was blowing good. Got ready to launch and someone just turned my 12 meter wind switch off. Suppose to shower as the afternoon rolls in. Hopefully the wind will return to for a nice evening session. Next time bringing the 14 so I am covered 9,12,14. Not looking forward to returning for the nice quality weather!!

Man, the vog is so thick here I feel like I can't even breathe. At least the wind is offshore and the waves are firing. Can't wait till the sky goes clear again.

I am hearing from a few people here that the trade winds will return this weekend but they will be short-lived until the southerlies fire back up next week. Search for glens forecast page. I think he is the only one that can forecast around here. I sucksurf has not even been in the ballpark on any day since I have been here. Local forecasters changed their thoughts and you would think Ikitesurf would wake up and smell the change!! The kona winds are nice but I would like the trade winds as that is what I brought kites for. stupid me. Next time the 14 is in order
