Rooser is gusting to 60+... Shocked Maybe PDX would be better, or the ponds.

I stayed in Camas last night at a friends house on Lacamas lake. I woke up this am and it was white capping by 9am! Anyone ever kite there?

Yep. Very Happy Pretty squirrelly winds. It can be done, landing can be problematic. Cottonwood is better, but I'm not sure if there's a beach there at this water level...

It is howling up here at Yale Resovoir. I walked out on the boat dock at Yale Launch to check the wind speed, my meter was bouncing from 10 to 25+, but mostly 15 to 25+, should be smoother in the channel. I cant wait till I can take my lessons and can take advantage of this, it is sunny, not to cold and windy and nobody on the lake.

So I decided to try and fly my trainer kite, bad idea because of the gusts. Their is a spit next to Yale launch I fly my trainer at. Twice the wind gusts and I have to let go of the kite, almost yanking my arm off from the leash hooked onto my wrist. Good practice I figure, because now I know I will let go instead of hanging on in a panic situation. The third time my leash line detaches from my wrist strap, and I get to see my bar slingshotting away from me headed towards the lake. I take off running after it and manage to grab the bar before it hits the lake. Woohoo, I still have a trainer kite! I will try again later if the wind dies down today.

Yale launch has plenty of kite launch space if anybody feels like trying it out. Let me know if you do, I would love to see a kite on the lake; I never have to date.
