In general kites seem to lose about 30% of their original purchase price (not list price, but, the average actual selling price) in each of the following 2 years. After the first 2 years the rate of decrease will slow down until the kite is perceived to be functionally obsolete. I might be able to sell a 2006 Waroo for about $150, but, I could not sell a 2005 Yarga for more than a six pack.
I think you could go back as far as 2006, but, a newer the kite will be better built. Using Best as an example... A 2008 Waroo is a better built kite than a 2006 Waroo. Unless the price difference is beyond your budget, I think you are better off buying the newest kite that is in good condition.
All that said, there are some kites models that had a bad year in the middle of some good years. Do your research before buying any kite. |
