Tue Dec 13, 11 2:36 pm New Bridge of the Gods 2012 information HUGE! |

Traditionally the Bridge of the Gods Kiteboarding Festival (BOTG) has been an all amateur event. We have worked hard to maintain the event in its grassroots form for over 10 years. After a lot of discussion and brain storming we have decided to add a Pro division and a Pro/Amateur downwind race to the event.
On July 28th there will be a Pro Freestyle Competition and the next day will be a Pro/Am Blowout team race to Hood River from Stevenson.
The following weekend (August4th) there will be the all amateur BOTG that is unchanged from year’s past.
We are still in the development phase of all the specifics but have a lot of the ground work in place to make this year’s BOTG HUGE. _________________ KB4C!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice... Hopefully there will be plenty of backup days for the Pro Contest... Even if it gets run on a Monday, they are pros and don't need to worry about missing work and I would much rather see top end footage of the guys really going off, rather then watching in person a miserably underpowered comp. |

MB, you can strap a surfboard to each foot for the downwind race if you want. It's the blowout with all the madness that comes with it.
We're still working on the details but the Pro-Am race will be something along the lines of pro / seeded riders (Corey, Bison, Brad, etc...) being teamed up via lottery with amateur riders to make a team. It might be something like 1 pro, 2 men, 1 woman and a junior, per team. All depends on who signs up. I'm hoping we can build this race back up to where there are 70 or 80 riders making the run.
We will have full boat support and finish line support for the race.
We will have some flexibility with the pro event depending on wind.
Steve and I really want to give the pro's another place to compete and allow the amateurs to have their own spotlight the following weekend by not mixing in any of the past winners and pro/semi-pro riders.
Extremely busy this week but I will get more of the format posted to the BOTG website this weekend. We plan to really expand our marketing of this event and try to draw in more riders from around the country.

Yes, we will be looking for all kinds of volunteers for all three events. We're going to try to step up our game this year with online registration, online volunteer sign up, to do lists, rider listings, and more frequent updates.
We plan to start soliciting the major manufacturers in January and hit up all of our regular sponsors by March and hopefully have info in the major mags by January.

You should have the Slider Project to build some nice rails and stuff for the pro competition. It will attract a lot of riders from The Ro Sham Bo and encourage progressive riding beyond the normal BOTG format. That shit is pretty impressive. |

Thanks for the input Sciffler. The BOTG has always been a freestyle/big air type of event.
A few years back we added sliders(THANK YOU Slider Project for providing the goods) and live music at the fairgrounds. Since then the county has deemed the lagoon near the fairgrounds off limits to motor craft.
Eastpoint does not have much smooth water and it is pretty deep too. This combination makes sliders a real challenge.
It is best that we leave the Ro Sham the premier slider event and BOTG the big air/freestyle event in the Gorge. The Pros will be impressive in both disciplines. _________________ KB4C!!!!!!!!!!!!
