I was real tempted to hit the ponds, cause I'm jonesin hard. and the mt. aint really happenin yet. Ended up windskippin at Stevie instead, tho it was def kitable. Pretty solid 30 with some wicked gusts. Suprisingly steady tho.
My question to you Ponds scum, How can you be sure its gonna happen? (Long drive for me) _________________ Kite Repair? AND WINGS Call me.(509) six 37-four five 29 |

For the months of Dec, Jan, Feb when the east winds are cranking in the gorge, if the sensors in Astoria are east in the morning then it should be good. The best sensor to use is on top of the Megler Bridge in Astoria, but it has been out for a while. I usually add 10 to 15mph to the reading on the Clatsop sensor to get the speed at the ponds.
when it gets warmer, in March its hard to call the East winds at the ponds. The temp gradients are tightest at the ponds when its cold, resulting from the warmer ocean water and the colder river water.
Today looks good, Friday hopefully based on my being at work again today |

undertow has the right info for actual conditions. forecasting is trickier unless there is a solid east flow through the western gorge, then its on. Surf? You can't strike out that way. |
