Tue Dec 06, 11 6:20 pm GoPro Hero 2 Advice |

Need to pick one up quick. Which memory card works with this unit and how many G's--32? Second Wind is sold out for a week so I am forced to order on-line via Best buy. Not my first choice but there you have it.
Brand/source and size of card for HD Hero2 appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric |

Get a Contour ROAM. No housing to deal with, better pic and vid quality in my opinion.
Its WAY easier to get it going. Like that old oven thingy. SET IT AND FORGET IT.
One slide button for on-off on top. No fogging issues since no housing.
super small Micro-SD card. The one feature that sells it for me is the bluetooth remote viewfinder feature. It will show you what the camera is seeing on your iPhone while it is up on the kite 20m over your head so you don't do out and film an hour of blank water above your head.
Personally I can't stand those cryptic Go-Pro menus from hell.
My 2 pesos worth.

The new display and menu on the GoPro 2 are way better than the original...much more intuitive. The field of view options are nice, and the photo every 1/2 second is an awesome upgrade over photos every 2 seconds. How often can the Roam automatically take photos??
Eric, you can use as much as a 32gb card with the Hero 2. I use a 16gb and was able to fill it up before the battery ran out doing full-res photos every 1/2 second, so if you have the bucks, go for the 32. I dont know that brand really matters...I just got the cheapest one which works fine. _________________ "all I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine."

Awesome. Thanks. I read some posts from the past which suggested some card issues with the HS gp, but the posts are from 2009 so I assume hp worked the bugs out for gp2. I'll get a 32
Thx,

I'll agree with the bad UI on the original gopro, however the new version is a much easier to understand menu. yes fogging will still be an issue so put something in the case to minimize this maybe either the anti fog strips or a piece of tissue. this will help.
the contour roam can take a picture one every second.
as for cards, I tend to use a 8 or 16 GB. I can't imagine having to sift through 32 GB of a session at the end of the day. 32GB cards are still a little pricey
keep in mind that with a more power packed camera and bigger memory cards will equate to a need for a more powerful computer, external hard drive(s) etc.
regarding the gopro and contour cameras, they're both good cameras, but are different in what they offer the user. it really depends on what you want to use it fo
one more thing, the new GoPro hero 2 is expandable (if you don't feel you have spent enough on the camera) to include the extended battery pack, lcd screen and coming this spring you can get the wifi expansion pack. _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |
