Wow, nice picture... This has been saved a medium resolution with a single pass encoding... Still came out very nice... Personally I don't like the screen size, but was lazy and just fired the cameras up in the mode the came in... Forgot to take off the closed door, so one has some condensation build up.
Also, note to myself. Camera on lines... bad when doing negative tricks.
Kreamer... Nice time lapse! Last edited by JonMalmberg on Wed Nov 16, 11 9:34 pm; edited 1 time in total

Damn looks nice. If I had an iphone I might consider an app.
The camera on my Mytouch 4G is only so so. Besides, I'm not sure I could handle not touching my phone for more then a couple minutes. Might get too tempted to check the wind. haha

Nice video. love the shots of the gorge from above!!!!!
what program are you using for your editing. Is it windows based or Mac based. Not trying to start a war just interested finding a good program at a reasonable cost for windows. Thanks Blake

Blake,
I am using a MacBook Pro and Final Cut Pro. The program definitely took some time to get efficient in, and the titles are lacking in my opinion.
Still, I cranked that edit out in about an hour...
Fun stuff fer sure, and that view of both mountains and down the Gorge from above is pretty awesome in person.

I've been very happy with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10 for windows
looks like you can get version 11 from amazon for $49.95.
Its the only cheap program I've found that doesn't crash on a regular basis.
If you have access to torrent files: Vegas Pro 11, Adobe After Effects CS5, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 would also be nice to have although Premiere is pretty overwhelming compared to vegas. I tend to think of Premiere as the program you would use if you were going to spend 6 months making a 30min pro quality video and Vegas is the program where you can crank out an edit in a few hours that isn't perfect but looks good or you can obsess and make everything perfect and crank it out in a week. _________________ www.youtube.com/c/christianjohnsons

I have been pondering my first GoPro but have heard that editing is a biatch! Any advice on how you store and edit footage?

Depends on what you wanna do. A simple edit where you combine some clips, add music, maybe slow-mo a bit, etc. isn't that hard or time consuming (even Windows Live Movie maker in Win7 is capable enough for basic stuff and comes with Windows). Making something fancier is another story. As far as storing...put it on a big hard drive. Not sure what the confusion is there. Space is cheap these days. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

Yes, would be happy to start out simple and basic. Agree on the storage and yes I have Windows 7. So Movie Maker that comes with Windows 7 is sufficient for basic stuff? If so, that is better news than I have heard.
Thanks

another tool to help the novice film maker, check out Project Odessa.
made by a team of kiteboarders from the Seattle, area, they wanted an easy way to "sift" through the footage and do the edits for you.

This was made with Windows 7 Live Movie Maker. Nothing fancy, but sufficient for the casual user.

Cool concept, but does it just start from the beginning of each clip and go until you cover the lens? Seems like you might still have lots of footage that way. And if it starts a bit before the lens covering then you might miss some footage. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

grabbed this from their website, looks like it just takes the footage a specified time before you cover the lens, so you put your hand in front of the camera after something you want to save happens. pretty cool.
Step 2: Bookmark the highlights. As soon as you record something that you'd like to easily find later, cover the camera lens with your hand for 1 second. This is going to leave a "stamp" in your video, which Odessa can find later.
Step 3: Let Odessa find the bookmarks. When you come home, plug your camera or its memory card into your computer. Run Project Odessa and tell it where your videos are. Odessa is going to scan through your videos and look for the bookmarks you set earlier. For each one it finds, it will chop out the previous 30 seconds into a new video file. Don't worry, you can change how far back it goes.

with the release of the GoPro Hero 2, there now comes a need to release a line mount 2.0...
Some who watch this can pick up small details while others might think this is just another line mount video.
things that stand out in the video...
watch the stability of the camera even during the self launch sequence.
keep in mind the aspect ratio and it's orientation.
check out the position of the lines, not distracting you from the scene like the original line mount.
These are just some of the things that come to mind for me. The most impressive benefit of this mount is the stability of the camera when using this mount.
Currently in early test mode. I have a team of mount testers in the puget sound that will give it a good rinse cycle and hopefully the feedback is good.
Will let you know when it is available
