I'm not understanding why people want a new sandbar at the mouth of the WS.
It would ruin the best swell riding we have.
We'd never be allowed to cross the railroad tracks to use it for launching.
IMHO - a new sandbar would suck.

Plenty of room upwind for more swell... It would create a new flat water area in much better wind than the current sandbar... and if you can't launch there then it should really cut down on the kookage.

Is the white salmon runoff from Adams? Maybe we'll get another storm like the one in 07 ... then we get the white salmon sandbar

I sat at the mouth of the white salmon at the columbia in a boat. It was a non-event. A 1 inch "wall" of water scared some birds and then a big mass of trees, debris and sediment followed. Hard to believe how much water and force dissipated by the time it hit the columbia!

Cooler up river. By the time it reached the Columbia it had died.

As far as a sandbar
The current sediment delta (23 ft deep h20) goes to the edge of the federal nav channel
surveys will be conducted after the sediment has settled .. if the sed impedes the channel..instant dredgeing..

Mark, how did you get those photos? We watched a helicopter follow the surge down the river. Your photos look like they were taken from the helicopter!

Was up on the White Salmon bluff. Had the good camera with me.
