ikite forecast says that the coast and Jones will be the strongest wind at upper teens. windonthewater is showing a 0.03 gradient astoria to longview - I would say that it will probably switch on at about 3 PM.......... |

Look for the 10
Degree temperature difference between Astoria and kelso. So far the forecast is not very accurate for the weather today:-( |

I generally look for 10 degree ifference between Astoria and PDX. Right now it is 69 in Astoria and 83 in PDX. Right now at 1:30 - the wind at Jones is 15mph. I still figure high teens by 3 PM............ |

how reliable is the iWindSurf sensor for Jones Beach?
Is it leading me astray? |

The iWindsurf sensor is very reliable at Jones, just ONLY read the gusts as your actual on-the-water reality. The sensor is located near that white house with the blue metal roof on the Washington side. There are some trees around it which messes with the low readings.
And of course look at your AST-PDX pressure gradient (if it's .03 and building at 10AM or.05 or more around 2PM), and your temperature gradient AST-PDX (10 degrees) _________________ CGKA Member

I don't have an iwindsurf account but the nwwind.net is showing ast-pdx pressure of .04 and temp gradient of 11. So this translates to wind in the afternoon? |

Great, Friday was a huge success. Now the ast-pdx pressure gradient is .03 as of now and a 20 deg temp difference. But looking over the last five hours, the pressure was higher in Portland and now it's higher in Astoria. Does wind flow from high pressure to low pressure, i.e. westerly wind? Basically someone tell me if it's gonna blow?
Thanks |
