how fast can you be from parking the car
To blasting across the water? Pull out the gear
Pump, untangle the lines, wetsuit, check, double
Check, harness, launch. Fastest time wins something
Fantastic, bragging rights, or just a nw kite decal?
You might be fastest on the water but are you
First on the water? Can anyone beat 5 minutes?
Is it even possible? Just throwing out a number.
Next session time yourself and post the results.
Game on!

That sounds way to stressful. Isn't kiting about rocking up to the beach, saying whats up to your friends, lazily pumping up your kite, and enjoying your session? Not to mention the safety aspect of rushing to setup, not putting one of your lines on right, and having a gnarly kitemare. That used to happen to me all the time until I learned to slow down. I like to save my hustle for working to get money to buy kite gear, then chilling when it comes time to get my hard earned session.

I use the above approach once on the sanbar, not the best place to hang out and get tomahawked, save the hanging out for the grass.

Springtime, after 8 grueling hours, 12' waves, 20knots of winds, sandblasting parking lot, two hours of light left, big fucking sharks, one guy to launch my kite that's packing up................

Its basically a full blown workout to the point that I'm sweating and exhausted before I hit the water. Good thing its 43° water temp on the Cali Coast in the spring.... or is it?!?

I do stop, take a deep breath, double check my lines and harness, blaze one (shhh), and get my chi together before romping through the surf for a survival session.

Ocean Beach, SF. Come on down in the S P R I N G. Its humbling.

I have been worked kiting at ocean beach before i ever hit the water. That was when I was always in a hurry to get kiting. I probably would of won that contest. As I was backing up in super side onshore winds after launching my kite, one line came off. The kite went into a death loop and dragged me for one loop until I released my kite and nearly took out about 100 people walking on the beach. SLOW DOWN and save your life.
