I'm so glad to live next to the Pacific Ocean.
Imagine getting excited over 5-6 foot waves that hit once every 20 years. So sad. I think the Columbia gets as big as that and it's... a river.
Anyways, let's all be glad that east coasters are having their fun, but seriously... don't you feel good to be on the left coast?

I grew up on the Jersey shore like Pauly D and the Situation:-) and although the summer swell is usually small, the winter swell and winter shoulder months produce good waves. The water is warmer and the sun shines a hell of a lot more. These guys surf and kite year round and don't freeze their balls off doing it. Long Beach Island where I grew up is an 18mile long and 1mile wide island that offers long downwinders on the ocean side and unlimited butter water on the lee side of all of the small islands in the bay. I live in the NW but just thought that I would give Jersey its props yo.

Don't forget God (Slater) is from Florida.
Makes you wonder what's better for churning out world class riders... killer waves or warm water.

Good point! It's been said many times that some of the best athletes come from the east. Not because we are any better than anyone else but growing up on knee high windblown swell and boilerplate moguls gives one unprecedented skills lol.

Epic! Hurricanes are a blessing and a curse. Props to the east, my roots are there too.

Yeah the waves don't compare. West coast > east coast
East coast kiting rocks ! Cape cod, hatteras. I would take it over West coast any day.
Our access issues suck though, wish access was more open like Oregon coast.
