I have been "cutting my teeth" at the Sand Bar and I am finally able to stay upwind so I thought it might be time to start trying some new launch sites. Any words of wisdom on launching and kiting at Stevenson?

Steve

Probably best to just ask someone on the beach so they can give you the pointers in person.

Its definitely a place where you want to be quick at rigging because space is limited. Also its single-file in and out so don't dilly dally with your launching and landing Very Happy

It's the riding downwind you'll need to be sure of at Stevenson

Definitely just ask someone where to lay out your lines and how the launch and landing things works. I find it harder to stop kiting at Stevenson when it's busy as it's just a constant stream of people.

If you find that the wind is dying and you can't make it back to the launch, make a b line for the east end of the cove. There is a cemetery there where you can haul out and walk back to the launch. Someone typically will see you go down there and pick you up or you can easily hitch.

West wind only for you young grasshopper.

Don't jump on an east wind until you've really got your act together.
