I'm going to be visiting some friends in Takaoka and then Okinanwa Japan. My vet buddy in Okinawa is taking me diving then it's kiting. I'll post some pictures.

Unfortunately, I don't believe it's the windy season there, as it's likely to be hot and humid with only the vague possibility of light sea breezes, but the diving should at least be great. But, pre-typhoon winds are possible too. Any kiting now is probably random frontal activity. The normal windy season is in the winter months, it is still warm there and Okinawa is good, short commuter flights to other islands such as Kumejima and Ishigaki are good too.

bay area is right. summer is VERY light winds, except for typhoons. It will be very pretty water though and great for diving. Take a ferry trip to the keramas for diving as well.

Check windguru.net, and also check for any typhoons in the area, they will send the winds WAY past nuclear!

If you want any info on where to go etc, PM me, I lived there for years, and know the local crew...good guys. "kaichu doro" is the best place to go for riding low/high tides works from NW-East winds...but again, summer can be very light winds.

good luck and post pics when you can.
