especially the person that didn't do that with a blue and black rpm with the bar rigged up wind on the center ridge of the sand bar between about 12 and 1.
it turns out when a kite blows away in the wind and the bar whips into your shins and rips your legs out from under you, it really, really hurts. And leaves nasty welts, bruises, and scraps.
using too much sand is easy, too easy not to do, especially when it is really windy. |

I recently had an incident at Rowena where a rigged kite blew by me at mock speeds and the bar and lines nearly decapitated me! Making it worse, my own kite which was not rigged and had my bag full of 3 boulders on top of the canopy takes flight!!!
It was nukin' that day, i'm thankful to have gotten to play rather than have my carotids severed!!! I'm also glad nobody was injured!
I think at the very least, if you're not ready to launch immediately, that your bar and lines should be rolled when hooked to your kite (although that could still cause problems)!!
Any suggestions?! |

Yet another reason to not hangout on the sandbar.
Andy from Floras Lake taught my whole family how to kite.
One of the first things he taught us;
"Put what you think is enough sand to hold down your kite.... then double the amount". |

And make it wet sand, dry sand will sometimes blow away. |

Especially when landing someones kite on the sandbar. Set the kite on it's leading edge and toss some sand on the canopy. Really helpful when the wind is ripping.
I was out there Saturday and asked someone to help me land and they just set the kite on the leading edge and walked away. I unhooked but kept my safety depower hooked as I knew the kite was going to take off before I could run over. Well it did and a trainer from 2nd wind snagged it (thanks by the way).

Yeah definitely DON'T come to the sandbar its gay and there are kites flying and hitting everyone. The first thing I teach anyone in a kite lesson is definitely how much sand to put on their kite, super vital piece of information there... _________________ I heart dangling |

My instructor told me that if anything happens that you don't like while kiteboarding, the proper thing to do is come to NWkite and create a post complaining about it.
Cause an internet forum is the best venue available to reach a clear, concise, and thoughtful consensus on an issue. Here are some helpfull guidelines for kite based disputes.
If someone tomohawks you 3-4 times, cut there fucking lines.
If someone leave there kite unattended, grab there pigtails and wipe your ass with them (or the whole bar if the lines are still wrapped).
IF someones dog walks on your kite, kick them in the belly.
If you step in dogshit, look for a dog that you think is ugly, then kick him in the face (doesn't matter if it was the dog or not)
If a kite instructor starts bitching and moaning about all the people kiting (which is PRETTY FUCKING IRONIC AS YOUR PUMPING MORE PEOPLE INTO THE SPORT) you have to choices: A. Tell them they should have stayed in school B. completely and utterly ignore them.
If someone is kiting to close to you, get behind them and shadow them so close the can't turn around. Keep going until they crash into the rip-rap on the Washington shore.
When two kiters are coming at each other, the one with helmet, flotation device, or gojo, has the right of way. _________________ Bury me standing cause I won't lay down!!
