Dude, that place is the worst kiting anyway. Best windsurfing in North America when it is on, but see that island? Devil wind that will break your lines, or launch and slam you so hard that you wish they would have broken. Luckily the best kiting in North America is 10 miles away with no one ever on it. Easy to find, go look.

And that was a loc that posted that pic, go figure.

It is very true that the Pistol River area is notoriously windy, unpleasant survival kiting at times and well suited to windsurfing equipment. It is also true that excellent kiting can be had at the south jetty in Gold Beach.....

I got off the water at 4:30 at Manzanita, counted 27 kiters still ripping. With probably another 20 on the beach, almost 50 kiters here today !! Waves were decent early afternoon and got very blown-out / choppy late in the day as the tide went out. Wed was the day to be here !! Sorry, no pics, but it was EPIC !!

I am loving my 2010 Naish 5'8" Fish (thanks Mark for talking me into buying it, I didn't realize how much I'd love this board). I have been riding this board strapless all week, it RIPS, and it is now my number 1 board !! I had a good session with it today with my 7m Torch.

Newport was pretty fun, a little close-out with that west swell and really low tides.
