SO the question is....where is this place? I've heard it's in Canada. How do you get there & how long is the drive from Hood River? Are you guys coming to visit this summer?

Just an FYI - A friend of mine went to go see you that had stayed at Baja Joes for an extended period of time...He was turned away at the border because of a DUI that he had years ago. Canada is tough & thought i would post this just in case other kite peoples have a similar record.

Have a great windfest....

It's a long long way away in the land of giant trees and expensive booze. Info here on how to find it: http://www.nitinaht.ca/howto.htm

It's a great place and a fun time if you have the time to get there. Well worth the trip.

If you are planning on venturing up to Nitinat on Vancouver Island for Windfest this August, you can keep your vehicle on the paved highway and try out the new kiteboarding destination at Wild West Watersports (day-use park) on your way to wilderness west coast Nitinat.

The hot Alberni Valley is at the end of a long inlet which offers consistent, thermal winds and warm water (no wetsuit required). Typically, the wind comes up late and many get a double day session at Nitinat, then Port Alberni (late afternoon/early evening).

Easy drive enroute from the Nanaimo ferry to Port Alberni, then logging road to Nitinat.

Summer has arrived!

Nitinaht lake is located on the west coast of vancouver island.
it takes about 6 to 7 hours from hood river, the best way to get there is to go to Port Angeles and catch the ferry to victoria.from victoria it is about 2 hours to nitinaht, take the exit towards lake cowichan and follow signs threw to youbou than you will hit the dirt road,it is about 1 hour on the dirt there is good signage on the dirt road.
well worth it if you can get here.

Mark drives pretty fast! I'd say more like 9 hours to get there including the ferry ride.

Definitely worth the trip if you can go.
