I can not get my wife to kite or windsurf but she likes the idea of sailing. I can not fault her as at least it is in the wind and on the water. Does anyone have ideas of where she can learn to sail in the gorge etc. I would like to get her some lessons or at least exposure. thanks Blake |

Blake,
There is an informal Wed night "race" series in Hood River. Often times a boat will take on a crew member who just wants to go out and check it out. There are several locals who participate: Tamira, Bingen Bart, etc. HR Community Ed may also have a program. Last summer they had several for kids.

Yes, Wednesday is the day to wait by the gate with a 6-pack. |

Sailing in the gorge is a BLAST! I think your wife will love it!
The community ed program is a great way to get into it, but I'm not sure if they are going to do a second class this summer.
Wed night is another good option, just so long as she gets on a mellow boat (first couple times out, bigger could be better). If you go down and hang at the marina pretty much any weekend with a couple cold ones and a big smile on your face you'll be sure to get a ride!
Good luck, and see you on the water! _________________ Get it while its good! |
