Don't really see anyone attacking, certainly not venomously. references to excitability, whatnot, but the OP seems very much tongue-in cheek, and would of been funnier if it were an anonymous Euro who happened to be kiting by.

Both local guys, both legends in their own times, shake hands and come out racing.

Given the interest generated by Gman's post, I'm thinking KB4C adds a tribunal for 2012, with the goal of adding an outdoor courtroom to replace the live music stage at the event site for KB4C 2012. This could be the first case slated for trial.

I see that the new interest in kiting forums is the drama.

Maybe a reality show or some jerry springer type events as a side show event would bring the numbers up and grow the sport.

I would cut g-mans lines though, not been a chicken and just bitch about it.....he may have won the event...

I was not going to comment... but since there is 2 sides of the story on this one.. I will.

I was the one in the boat, with the timer, start flag and horn.

Ken... maybe you misunderstood the riders meeting.. .but the start was SUPPOSED to be riders upwind of the buoy, boat at the buoy, timer goes off, boat goes north to south drawing a line with the wake, riders pass BEHIND the boat, crossing the wake.

Truth to this situation.. we were counting down 5-4-3 and 2 seconds before pushing full throttle and blasting the horn, you drifted downwind across the bow (front) of the boat. If we had given the boat any gas, we would have run you over. So we opted to NOT run you over and in that instant current pushed boat into pack, pack drifted into boat, kites tangled and everyone else was left wondering if the race had even started.

Reading in more detail your quote below, you claim you couldn't have created the problem because you were downwind of the boat. Since the race rules required everyone to be UPWIND of the boat... it seems maybe you were just confused at the rules, but by your own admission, you WERE downwind, and therefore jumped the start...

Point blank ken, YOU messed up the start. Period. There is no way you could have started 10 seconds after the start because the start was late, because you jumped the gun.

Whether or not this had anything to do with the tangled kites, I don't know.

Whether this had to do with multiple ties at the end of the day, or your team winning, I don't know.

Honestly, no one got hurt... no gear got damaged and together we raised a lot of money for a good cause... TOGETHER...

But Ken.. please don't be confused... we can look at the heli shots if you want, because we have it all in high def... 4000+ pixels wide... with time stamped images...if you don't believe you blew it.. but yeah... 1 person jumped the gun and threw the start for everyone!

Well since we heard from collean's father - I called my daddy - he did say something about locking me up (fucker!)

Accomplished yacht racer, winner of NY-Bermuda, Block Island, Numerous SORC events and general pain in the ass know it all

Asked about crossing in front of the start line prior to a race - perfectly legal - just need to be back on the correct side of the line when the gun goes off

asked him about a rabbit start with a power boat creating an imaginary start line - he asked if i was smoking the rock again - not yacht racing thing

a bold move - wouldn't have thought it wise or legal...

" Rabbit start " ? Weird .. Used to run committee boat in my college days & don't see why you'd want to create a start line w/ boat wake. Just eye up that line from the committee boat to see if it's a good start .. Maybe lesson learned ??
