Good work Joby & crew.

P.S. That's a beautiful curve. Has anybody been off of it? how's the feel?

that ramp is sweet.
good job to the slider project team.
I totally understand the efforts of building such a structure
just wondering like many other kiters out there...
are these entering the water anytime before the slider events next week?
are they open to the general public?
what is the protocol for using these?
liability waiver required?
sorry to ask all these questions, but I want to respect the rules and equipment.

Thanks, this kicker is one of the most high-end things we've built.

It's unlikely these things will go into the water before the weekend. We're still finishing up another feature and the high water makes for chop everywhere, leading to a very crummy approach, and a crummy experience on the sliders. We will put them out when we see slivers of sand appearing, or by Tuesday of next week. Which ever comes first.

I've been in close contact with the USACE who run the dam, and it's not looking like we're gonna have low water until the 3rd or 4th week of July. They're calling this a "once in 30 years" high water event. We might see some slivers of sand on Wednesday/Thursday as they're going to make a strong effort to get the water levels down for our event, but there is no promise. My take from my discussions with them is that there is just too much water flowing into the system for them to safely lower the Bonneville pool.

The features are for everyone!!! You need to use common sense and be at least an intermediate kiter before you try one. That said, you've been exposed to all kinds of disclaimers written on every piece of kiteboarding equipment you own. Enjoy, but heed the warning on your equipment.

The first step to riding in the park is to spend a few minutes watching the flow of the riders from the beach. You'll notice a rotation of the riders if you watch long enough. The goal is to share. The protocol of the park is like this: you want to approach the park from the red channel marker. While approaching the park provide room for anyone approaching a feature who is going to slide it, this should be pretty obvious. This means passing far downwind with your kite low, or passing far upwind with your kite high. If you can't provide room from the position you're current in, just come to a stop and let the rider hit the feature, then continue on. After you've made a pass through, tack out and around the red channel marker to provide room and time for other riders (This also allows the water to settle down and flatten out).

My one rule is "Do Not Jump Over The Features." There is no reason to do it. They're not designed to be safe for you to jump. If you mess yourself up doing this you'll ruin it for everyone.

No one has been off it yet, but we're all super anxious.
