I have read some accounts on here about people getting tied up in their lines and unable to reach their knife.

What kind of placement would you guys recommend for easy accessibility.

If it makes any difference, I have an NSI Captain Hook, and just got a Mystic Warrior II harness to replace a Dakine Fusion.

Any mounting suggestions?

You don't have to get tangled in your lines to need a kite knife. I was recently self rescuing and my lines tangled when the kite inverted and it wouldn't depower. It was a bitch wrapping the lines to get to the kite.

Anyway, if I had a choice I would put it somewhere high on my chest, maybe attached to an impact vest or something. Preferably with both the top and bottom of the sheath secure so you can grab the knife and pull it out with one hand. That way it is out of the way, and by itself so you can reach it easily without having to go through or around any of your harness gear/chicken loop/whatever. I'm sure someone will correct me if that logic is flawed.

Unfortunately that's not really an option in most cases. I think some spreader bar pads have a place for a knife.

Hey beej, you're gonna love the Mystic Warrior. The most comfortable harness I ever wore. Here are 2 pics where I stash my NSI Hook knife. In the pouches around the spreader bar.

Thanks Dancing Wind - That's exactly where I was thinking.

Thanks for the pro-tip on the Warrior too. I'm already eternally grateful!

My Mystic Warrior III has a double edged hook knife tucked away in a velcro pouch just below the hook on the spreader bar pad.
