Use this: http://usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?sta=KDLS&model=eta&state=OR

If The Dalles shows 14 or more it will be kiteable in The Gorge

the human forecast folks seem to change from year to year. there used to be a guy that ran a site, kind of like gorgeismygym.com (mcclean??). he was good, then went to work for ikitesurf and seemed like the local forecast on ikite was good. i remember him posting on this site a couple of times, so maybe he's local and that is why. I know ikitesurf also has a sailing version of their site, and as you can tell, it covers a lot of different places. My guess is that the detail quality of the forecast around here takes a local. For me, it all seems good enough

If you use Temira's services regularly shoot her some paypal $$ Make it worth her time for her hard work. Not only wind forecasts spring/summer, Mt. Hood forecast during the winter.

Temira Rocks !!

Temira's the best.

Send her some money. She'll save you sooo much in gas.

At the coast the are consistently 10mph off so far this year. The sensor in manzo is all wacky too; it's not just that past leneda has a funky wind tunnel either. Direction is off and lull, speed, and gusts are off :/

I agree. Have you seen the Jones sensor's readings this year? The one day I went it was showing 14mph. On the water it was at least 10mph more than that.

The iKite sensor for Jones is located on (or near) that house in the Wa side that has the bright blue metal roof, up near The Alley.
Always, always, always treat the gusts on that sensor as the actual wind reading on the water. The trees around that house effect the readings.
