Hi,

Looking to spend a couple months this winter down in La Ventana. It is imperative for work that I have high speed internet. I already have and use a Verizon wireless high speed internet card. Will I have any troubles down there?

Thanks!

High speed internet is basically everywhere in LV. Baja Joes, Casa Verde, Campground, even Tacos Leon's in El Sargento has free WiFi.
There were times in the day when I observed some slow-downs in transfer speeds for the whole town. Must be when there's no wind and everyone is on Skype.

SpaceRacer, I'm in the same boat with regards to needing to work over the Internet.

I chose Maui for this very reason. With all the military stuff going on over there, the telecom lines are in really good working order. Had perfect Internet access where we stayed for 3 months with interruptions only during power outages during the occasional storm.

maui for 3 months man, that must've been hard to come back. Gorge is rad, but that would be a tough choice.

We also need high speed and reliable internet where we travel. So far LV has given us some high speeds occaisionally but we didn't find it 100% reliable. Outages and slow downs just when it seems like we needed to deal with a client. We definitely saw the slow downs in the mornings, evenings, and whenever the wind died as everyone tries to get on Skype. Just didn't cut it for the type of work we do.

It is getting better than it used to be but still not good enough for me to be comfortable with for very long.
