Tue Jun 21, 11 10:57 am Kiting @ Kalama park, WA?? |
|
|
Anyone kited or is kiting Kalama Park? I was there last week and it looked doable. Plenty of room on the beach to launch from. Wind was a bit on shore but not bad. I wonder if the wind gets weird due to the rivers Northerly location? Monstrous freight ships though!! Pretty darn quick too, kinda like Jones beach!!
Any advice anyone?? _________________ SAY WHAT YOU MEAN, MEAN WHAT YOU SAY |

Kalama is the shit. Any North wind works great. Northwest wind will work as well, but it becomes more patchy with more Westerly winds. I plan to be there tomorrow if the forecast holds. |

Actually, the kiting there is awful. Not worth your time. _________________ --------------------------------

funny. when kalama goes off there usually isn't anyone there. i've noticed that when the gorge turns east kalama goes. Probably no one there because everyone is dodging 'one eye' trying to get the east wind at cock rock. |

Kalama is difficult to predict and goes off at the end of summer. It's OK. |

Do a downwinder from KalamaRAMA to Woodland (exit 22). Lots of flat protected water on the sides from those pilons and some are hidden, so be careful. I think it is about 6 or 7 miles of DW bliss. |

What "SPOT" are you talking about? The takeout ie Woodland? Just take exit 22 on I-5 and if one is so concerned about finding the spot. Put up a flag or ribbon at the takeout and you'll be fine.
As for finding flat water, well, that is up to the rider/riders. "It is like a box of chocolates. Momma says you never know what your going to find."
Nice try on attempting to talk down Kalama and or Woodland.
Go get some. |

Alright, alright... the gig is up.
I'm just trying to keep Kalama more of a secret (not that it's a huge secret). It's a great spot and I love riding there.
'Nuff said. _________________ --------------------------------
