The 2011 Kiteboard 4 Cancer, powered by the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and Athletes for Cancer, is heading into its 5th year! KB4C is the main event of the Tenacity Games -- a multi-day, multi-sport adventure fundraiser for regional cancer programs and Athletes for Cancer's cancer survivorship program!!

The Kite Derby Endurance Race, the original and cornerstone event of Kiteboarding 4 Cancer continues to challenge racers endurance, determination, and mental tenacity for 6-hours. The most challenging event in the 3-day fundraiser, the Kite Derby will demand the most out of the most physically and mentally fit athletes.

This year's kiteboarding event adds more spice and fun than ever before with the addition of the 1st ever Team Kite Relay Race, a test of speed, strategy, and team cooperation in addition to sprinting kiteboarding skills! The Kite Team Relay will take place on Sunday, the day after the Kite Derby Endurance Race. More info on this event will be available soon via our blog - http://athletes4cancer.wordpress.com/ . Friday, July 8th

5:00-6:00 pm Event Registration & Athlete Check-in -- Hood River Event Site
6:00 - 7:30 pm Athlete, Volunteer & VIP Dinner -- Hood River Event Site

Saturday, July 9th

7:30-9:45 am: Registration
10:00 Rider’s Meeting
10:15 Riders launch
10:40 Kite Derby Endurance Race Start
11:30 Live music act
11:30-2:00 Athlete lunch
12 noon: Full Sail Brewing Beer Garden opens
1:30 pm: Live music act
3:30 pm: Live music act
5:00 pm: Endurance Race finishes (This time will vary depending on race start)
5:30 pm: Live Auction
6:30 pm: Awards

Athlete Registration:

> Individuals must raise a minimum of $250 in donations OR pay a $100 registration fee. This includes all events at Kiteboarding 4 Cancer.
> Teams must raise a minimum of $1000 in donations OR pay a $500 registration fee.
> Athletes and teams receive sponsor welcome bags, VIP meals & beverages, entry into parties, event swag, and more.

Where the funds go.

Athlete funds raised go directly to put on Athletes for Cancer's Survivorship Program for young adults with cancer.
I highly recommend anyone thinking of donating to read this post about these camps. These camps are designed for cancer survivors ages 18-40 to foster self-confidence and strengthen survivorship through life-changing outdoor adventure experiences.

Athletes for Cancer takes campers on an experience of a lifetime that challenge and inspire each person involved. With a team of professional instructors and experienced watermen and women, we safely embrace some of the great powers of nature — wind, swell, and water — to overcome physical or psychological limitations as you face life after cancer.

Is there any camping Friday and Saturday near the event site this year? Dirt lot across the street?

How about in the Event Site parking area? My plan, as in past years, is to sleep there. Last year there were also a few tents on the grass. I am certain that this is acceptable.
