Any sand showing at all at the base of the rock walkway at the sand spit? From the CAM looks like the answer is "no."

I had a hell of a time figuring that out yesterday but ended up launching from the Spit. I would say try out the Marina because there is at least grassy fields and a beach to launch from. I ended up dropping my kite in the wind shadow at the spit and swam across the Hood to there anyways so save yourself the freezing cold swim and just start at the Marina if you can.

Does that place require a permit to park there or something?

Seems like the Marina is the best option with a small crescent section of sand to launch from. It also looks like the wind might even be a little cleaner than the spit.

I launched at bingen.... once. Sad

The launch spot would be completely under water right now. (Think stevenson slopes with no place to stand). You could probably just launch on the grass and walk down the slope until you reach water though.

I'm going to head to the marina.

You guys just need to man up and launch from the SB parking lot... that's what we did last time this happened (maybe 5 years ago, lasted until July.)

Do you know if you can touch the bottom over the top of the sandbar?

I'm still a beginner. I can mow the lawn but I do fall most likely more than most. Also, my wife and I swap riding back and forth. Being able to stand out there is helpful but not needed.

Great chart of river flow forecast.

Anyone know what flow on an average year looks like and how much does the CFS have to drop before the sand bar is exposed?

Just looking at this chart, the sand bar disappeared at about 300,000 to 330,000 cfs. So I'm guessing it will reappear at around the same level. By this forecast that looks to be somewhere in the second week of July. Forecasts change of course.

launched from the marina today.... it's nicer than the event site....powered on a 8m.... 2 zigs and a zag and I was above the bridge in less than 5 minutes. 5 more jibes and I was at swell city.....the river current is like an express elevator to the penthouse.

I launched from the marina beach today, and it wasn't that bad.

It's gonna suck when it gets crowded with swimmers though.

Windsurfers are controlling the dams.

They've been planning this since the flood.
