yeah..was over powered on my 11.... donkey dick managed to wiggle out and wammo Kite ripped out of my hand Spent 45 min battling river like rips trying to get in.. with big mother fuckers slamming my ass while Im tethered to my kite. Finally made it, got a nine and was still over powered... but managed to salvage the sesh. some sick slabby ones out there.

one other guy out on a maroon kite can attest.

Glassy perfect barrels early till the wind blew it up

Glad you didn't get hogtied

Sorry bout the kite hatah! I was wanting to be out there...
I HATE donkey dick slipage...it cost me a huge kitemare down in Florence last year. Slingy, I'm sorry but you just cut those things too short...even with the Extenze technique..they come out! (and please no, "you should be unhooked anyway" comments Rolling Eyes )

So foghater, at what point did the kite incur damage? People are always talking about releasing the kite when it goes down in the waves to avoid damage. I tend to hang on to the one thing that's helping pull me toward shore...especially in big water with strong rips. Do you think you could have released at some point and avoided the Airtime bill?

agree.. the 2010 DD is too short.. thought that when I first saw it..although I shoudnt have been out on my 11 and should of known the minute I hit the beach... it was a weird cloudy day that made the water not look as windy.

the whole time getting dragged I thought about releasing..very well could of avoided the damage. but it was so windy I didnt want my kite getting to the beach and taking out all the friday evening arrivals at the state park..

BTW - does anyone else think its rude when tourists take video/pictures of you in your face without asking your permisssion?.. In my post-anihalation grumpyness I went off on what was probablly a really nice family.

I don't wear a board leash Drock, so in these situations, my board is usually long gone. I am considering one though...I think they may have their place in some scenarios...

Crap - I bet that was a fun ride. Very Happy

I think I'd be afraid to eject in big break b/c the kite can pull me in and it's easier for the CG to spot! but it's probably the right thing to do in order to avoid being hog tied if you're going thru the rinse repeatly.

Note: I think a board leash could lead to disaster in overpowered cases. I used a board leash when I was a newb. In high wind it makes your board into a flying guillotine. In strong current it's handy and safer, but it's still a judgement call. Last time I used it my board got stuck on the bottom and the kite / current started pulling me under. That was not fun - never used it again.

If anyone wants a reel leash I have one cheap!
