anyone have any experience with the dakine or liquidforce harness shorts? i am happy with my dakine waist harness but i am wondering if having the spreader bar lower might be better with the shorts. just curious. thanks

This really depends upon your riding style

For surfboard I like a loose waist that rotates, I am not jumping and ride the smallest kite I can get away with; the low; rigid hook seat harness drives me nuts

For old school big jump dangle wangle I hate a waist harness but love the low tight seat harness

For wakestyle which I only do when my kids call me an old school loser I like the waist as it forces me to ride with a lower kite and unhook/ load up properly. I do this kind of riding for about 4 hours per season

I own both kinds and use a waist 95% of the time as I ride a strapless surfboard 95% of the time.

Eric

I use the Dakine Fusion. It gives you the "old school dangle wangle", but also keeps the hook higher, so it's better for the new school and surf styles. It doesn't rotate as well as a waist harness, but it is a really good all-in-one compromise IMHO.

i like the dakine shorts, though they are a bit UGLY! Have a waist harness i like to ride too. Picked up the shorts for the days when my back hurts. And, I'm not doing anything but mowin', swell, transition jumps. Little snug around 'the fellas' sometimes, as far as i can tell it is basically a seat harness built into shorts. Anyway, keep me on the water when my back is killin', i put a high price on being able to keep the sesh going in the time i have to do it
