Glad that was posted. It is hard to describe situations like that. Hopefully this video will prompt discussion about how to better rescue a fallen kiter. Those waves were huge, but even smaller waves can be just as scary - the reef with urchins & fire coral can also bring a new demension if you wash up or get wave thown on it without booties. You are on your own most of the time. A hard lesson.
Just out of curiosity - I've seen these surf rescue foam floaties that you attach to the back of a jetski. They look like a back board with handles. They seem to be a bit better for getting people some help. Ever try to get on the back of a jetski in big conditions? Not that easy. Pretty tippy & unstable. Just wondering if anyone knows where to get one, the price and if they would be effective. ?? _________________ Be kind to Kooks |

Just google "rescue sled"... Probably available on the coast somewhere.
I've been playing around with making one, not as simple as I thought it might be... Retail they start around $1000 and go on up. I think if you're going to use one in conditions like that you're a lot better off buying one than trying to make one. For river use I think I'll eventually have a working homemade model. |

Yea rescue sleds are sick for grabbing kites and kiters. It's otherwise very awkward dealing with chop/ the jet from your ski/ the wind catching your kite/ dealing with lines |
