My wife road a Mako this winter and loved it!

Wondering if there any other boards out there with similar performance characteristics and shape: concave?

Thanks!

Not that I have seen yet. The Naish Sol had a similar outline but not the same rocker or concave. Some handymen have made nice wood copies we call Fakos, they are beautiful. This years Makos are all wood core with a regular skin. Surprising it hasn't been copied more in production though.

Around 06'ish Slingshot sx's had a similar yet not as pronounced outline. I think if you found a board your wife likes, you should just get it. Otherwise you'll be hearing about forever. I bet Windance has a few in stock for you.

Good Point!

I was more curious to see if somebody had incorporated that shape into their production boards. I was really surprised how well that board performed, and thought it had to do with the distinctive shape. I wanted to see if somebody had a different take on it, but I haven't found any that are still being made like the Mako year after year.

Still thinking about giving the Fako a try too. Found a good build thread at loosethestaps.com.

I don't know if it is out of my reach. I know that guy's skills are way beyond mine. Those ribs are pretty small and the tolerances are super tight, but the end result looks awesome.

Any other good build threads or guides to making a Fako Mako out there?
