Read a cool article, they applied RainX to the outside lense (the waterproof Case) of their GoPro to remove the water drops off the lense after you fall in/get wet and I had to pass it along.
I have been using the stuff on my car's windshield for years and love it, and after the last time kiting in the water where I had a water drop on my lense for 5 minutes, guess what I will be doing tonight. Applying RainX to my Camera Case.

Will RainX affect the coating on sunglass lenses? I would be interested in trying that but I have a fairly expensive pair of sunglasses for kiteboarding and I don't want to ruin them.

I have not had any problems yet. I have put it on sea specs and a glass pair of smiths too. put it on sparingly.

One other thing to think of using in a GoPro for either water or snowsports use are the 'Anti Fog (silica) Inserts' which keep your GoPro dry and prevent any fogging issues that could occur inside the camera.
Fogging is a rare issue, but most commonly occurs as a result of any micron of moisture being exposed inside the camera, or when the camera is moved from a warm dry environment and rapidly placed into a cold or moist environment.
Definitely a must for anyone who is using the camera on the slopes or in the water.
These are reusable inserts and come in a package of 6 sets that should pretty much last you at least a years worth of use.
Here's the link :

As usual, 2nd Wind Sports stocks a lot of these for our avid GoPro customers.
Your local dealer should have these in stock as well.

fogging seems to happen 100% of the time for me unless I use dry toilet paper or antifog strips. even then sometimes it still happens. My guess is different climates will yield different results.
I hope maybe Gopro will work on some antifog coatings (like what they use for ski goggles) for the camera lenses in the future.
I have also noticed it seems to be largely effected by how long the camera is on for. If my gopro fogs up I've noticed I can shut it off for 15mins. the fog will go away completely and I can turn it back on for 15-20 more minutes before the fog returns again. Its no surprise considering how much heat an HD go pro generates that this is an issue.

Hey guys here are some tips I have found to keep away fogging!
I have found that if you just put the silica strips in the housing you will still get fogging. Here are the 3 easy steps I do to prevent any fogging.
1. Take 3 silica strips and place them on the cross bar between toasting slots on a toaster. Leave them on for between 30-60 seconds with the toaster on high.
2. Take the strips off the toaster while they are still hot and dry.
3. Place one strip on the bottom of the housing and the other two on the sides of the housing and seal housing quickly.
It is important to use these steps even when using the silica strips for the first time and after every time the housing is opened. Using these steps I have never had it fog when before it would fog within minutes.
Good luck!
