i like the idea but, NOAA forecast could throw a wrench into it.
Sunday
Rain...breezy. Highs 50 to 55. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph shifting to the south 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Rainfall amounts around a half of an inch.
if it goes, i will be there.

Ya, I always take the airnet forecast with a grain of salt. Especially when it's 3 days out. The forecasts frequently change on that site. I guess we will see. If it's easty and not pouring I'll probably be there though.

I got a 4/3 wetsuit with booties. That's warm enough isn't it?

I went to Ponds in december with my 5/4, booties, and gloves and was wishing I had a hood. Ponds is warmer than the river due to the ocean water. You might be OK for a bit but I wouldn't expect to be out there too long. If its a balmy 15C that will definitely help as long as you stay out of the water for the most part.
DISCLAIMER: Take anything I say on the subject of cold weather kiting with a grain of salt. This will only be my second season and I haven't done much cold weather boarding yet.

HAHAHA! K2, you'll freeze you a$$ off.
I think the water temp is around 40. But go for it. Just don't fall in and you'll be fine

Updated at 2:30, looking better:
Sunday
Rain...breezy. Highs 50 to 55. East wind 5 to 15 mph increasing to southeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph in the afternoon. Rainfall amounts a half to three quarters of an inch.
K2, hopefully you are joking. you would be insane to try 40 degree water with a 4/3.

Forecast is still looking good for tomorrow wind wise. I guess it will come down to if I'm willing to kite in the rain. Unfortunately I live in an apartment and have no real place to dry a kite so ending up with wet gear is a consideration for me

It looks like a 40/40/40 day.
The wind speed, water temp, and air temp are all between 40 and 45 this morning.

I rode rooster in Oct low river flow and it was a chore to stay upwind. How's it in winter-spring hi flow conditions?

Hey Youkai,
Where did you find this spot? Farther up than the island?
Let's try this again.
NOAA:
Sunday
Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers in the morning... then a chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs around 55. Light wind...except east wind 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph near The Gorge.

I couldn't tell you exactly. We walked in quite a ways and finally found a spot where we only had to cross a few meters of shallowly flooded path to get to the water. I guess we were across from the west tip of the island. It extended just past us to the left with most of the island to the right.
You could probably find a closer spot if you were willing to get wet. I had some non-wetsuited friends with us so we were trying to find a dry path to the shore.
We just kited in the channel. Had to pump up in the grass. Launching was a bitch because you couldn't walk out far enough to straighten the lines and the person on shore couldn't back up any farther. I would highly recommend a water launch if possible.
Sadly I'm going to be in Lincoln City on sunday so I can't do rooster again.

It looks like the arrival of Spring may be delayed.
.SUNDAY...PARTLY SUNNY IN THE MORNING...THEN MOSTLY CLOUDY. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGHS 45 TO 50. EAST WIND 5 TO 15 MPH...
