It looks like we've got a new beach and some sliders for the summer season.

Woo Hoo! Should be much easier walking out to the sandbar. And, Wow, there's going to be a great bonfire this Spring....

Ya I think it's pretty cool that the sandbar changes every year. I can't remember if there is always a kiddie pool or not, can somebody verify?

I was just out yesterday walking around, there is so much more wood out in the "school zone" than in front of the event site. It's ridiculouls.

I don't know if the kiddie pool will be as big as it was last year but it will be there more than likely in the spring when the water level is high.

As for the area in front of the "pro" slider area. It is like a sheer cliff drop off. I put a stick out, a foot out from the bank, it was over 2' deep. no idea how deep it gets but I doubt you will be able to walk across it anymore.

Sorry the pic is so grainy, my camera phone sucks. 3mp. Whooh Sad

The windsurfers have to be pissed. They just keep losing the battle year after year.

Mother Nature just adds insult to injury. It's like watching the dinosaurs slowly give away their world to a bunch of nimbler creatures. At least there will come a day when I can tell my currently non-existent children about 'windsurfers' while they ask me again and again about what they were like and show one more time how big their boards were.

By the way, what happens when the sandbar extends all the way across the event site? Will windsurfers be confined to a pond? Is is going to be like some kind of sand-Tron motorcycle game where they just circle and circle until they crash? Will kiters be able to access the sandbar from either side of the Event Site?

Perhaps it's just karma for kicking us out to some backroad parking lot in the early 2000's.

I like the mixed use of windsurfers and kiters at the Event Site. Plenty of room for all, regardless of wind toy of choice.

Yea, it will be mixed use. Mixed use happens everywhere but in Hood River. Almost like we need a Civil Rights movement to get mixed use.

There is a project in the works to dredge and move sand btw. Port of HR has been working on the permits, it's a couple years out, but be ready to give your feedback when the time comes.

Ditto to helping with a clean up party. I'll bring home brew. Can hardly contain myself thinking about this coming season.

Clean-ups usually happen in the May timeframe. Thanks to some idiots poring 5 gallon buckets of diesel fuel on the fires back in 2007, we can no longer have bonfires.

That is just plain old insane ..... what a waste of good fuel, and way to trash the environment .....
