Hi,
Just purchased an OR Pyro:
1) What are you folks wearing under your drysuits?
2) I've heard that pulling the writs gaskets up high (to the fleshy part of both your writst and ankles works well). True?
3) Any other tips or tricks for the endless summer?

Hey! Welcome to winter!
1. Something that will keep you warm if it gets wet. I use thin thermals, some high tech type that I forget right now, under polar fleece. Depends how cold the water/air is...
2. Never worried about it.
3. Spray the gaskets with 303 UV protector. They'll last longer. Get a relief zipper installed if you don't have one. Wear warm booties like the Atan "Hot Mistral".
Have Fun! |

Hello,
1) I had the Pyro Surf and wore the OR fleece one piece. Added the Cypher electric vest and stayed real toasty.
2) If you find any water getting by on your wrists or ankles, then make sure the gasket is not on the bone areas, but on the softer areas. Do not get any grease/lotions on the gaskets, it'll break them down faster.
3) Make sure you try to wax the zipper for each use, speacially the inside of it. Try to hang it in an area where the UV rays do not get to it. End never fold the suit in a way the zipper does not lay flat.
FYI- I just switched to the ION 4/3 fuse drysuit, and it's very hot. Use a real thin layer under it. the coldest so far has been 25-28 a couple weeks ago.
Have fun, winter has some of the best riding. |

I use the Pyro pro for the lower 40s. anything above 45 degrees I prefer my 4/3
Polypro running pants and either a polypro shirt or sometimes a fleece when its real cold and real windy.
I put my botties over the latex seals to give it a little bit more protection from water leaking in. same with my gloves. _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |

Does anyone wear neoprene under drysuits with any success? I was thinking in extreme conditions for added warmth and backup protection? |

IMHO, That's overkill. You will be sweating like crazy! Plus it's taking away best benefit of a drysuit... Mobility. |

Actually, yes. I know a few that do. As long as the suit is flexible, which a lot of the new ones are. You'll be nice and toasty too. |

I used to always leak at the wrists. Now I always wear the wrist gasket low enough that it's beneath the cuff of my winter gloves. The very best glove (and I've owned most off them) is the Coldfire by OR
