you should send a demo to Pepi at 2nd Wind in Hood River - so we can test it out!

I just love it. Dont want to snow kite with bindings any more. Just like riding a surfboard.
I officially call this the start of the snowsk8 kite revolution ! |

I think we could pull our a bunch of boards and parts from the 2nd Wind gear dungeon and make a few of these on our own. |
I would highly recommend it. I think the aft mounting is key. A small or kids snowboard will work. Rocker Trucks are available on the market. I have used 4 skateboard wheels as a mount also. |

I think it actually performs very well in most all conditions. It even works well in icy windblown, I just dont frequent those conditions. Just rode it for a couple hrs in powder / packed powder. Workin some fun little lip trick transitions on the jump lip. I feel like Im 12 again and lovin it.
It works SUPER well with the new RPM ..... |

Snosk8.com is based in White Salmon and there is a whole crew of guys who hit Timberline and Ski Bowl. I work with the guy who started the website and he talks my ear off about it all day long. He definitely has the bug.
He likes the Ralston and Lib Techs the best and is super keen on the new Rocker Trucks. Shoot him a message and I'm sure he will talk your ear off, too. Plus you can support your local bros. |

I like the idea...
but, on hardpack I think I'd prefer these kind of skates..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFYLOi89tmY
like the premier ones with more channels on bottom.
probably harder to go up wind, but that's not fun anyways...
the bi-level ones dig too much
I have a few old snowboards laying around maybe pick up some trucks from the white salmon guys and create something like pepi said |

This is a good idea. Last winter I was really missing my surf board and thinking of how I could make a jibeable directional snow kite board. Has anyone tried a surf board in deep powder? |

Hey,
I am new to the forum and not even a kiter but, kenja told me about the snowskate conversation going on here. For what it is worth, here are my comments on the conversation so far.
1. If you try to make a pow skate out of an old snowboard or a kids board you will want to cut a triangle out of the center from the tip to the tail to create a good skate shape. The narrower board with narrow tail allows you to get the skate on edge.
2. The pow skate is not great on hard pack. It really needs 3" to 4" of soft surface on top to be able to carve. They just don't tip up on edge without a softer surface and will slip out a lot. If you can find one, Lib Tech snowskates have magnetraction and hold a good edge on hard pack and icy conditions.
3. Flat deck / single deck snowskates do not have metal edges and can not carve. They are not going to work. There is no way to hold an edge.
4. Snowskating totally feels like surfing. Especially on a Florida Powderskate. I agree that you feel like you are 12 yrs. old again. (too much fun)
5. Some people are riding PowSurf boards or NoBoards in deep pow but ,shape is even more important for getting pressure to the edges and the ability to carve turns.
I am really stoked to see the crossover and more people using snowskates with kites. If you get the right one you could keep it with you and use it at home, in town, on the mountain, with your kite.... Like kenja said I could go on all day. Hit me up if you have a question or whatever. |

I love it with my kite and its all I want to ride. I did ride it on the mountain all day yesterday. It was great.
We got 26 inches last night and I did ride buckled in today. ( Super Epic )
My goal is to ride days like today and every day strap free. |

This picture is a good example.
The Florida Powderskates shape really works. The second one from the left is the 151cm and is the most popular.
