Just had to share this with someone who might care. I recently sailed down to to the British Virgin Islands and was watching some kiteboarders (couldn't bring my gear) at the Bitter End. A group of us were watching this older man who clearly didn't know what he was doing..... he was trying to launch the kite straight down wind. Eventually a local helped him launch the kite and as he did he yelled "I would've voted for you if i was a US citizen" We soon realized it was john kerry. He did alright once he got the kite up, but at one point he accidentally dove the kite through the power zone and got rocked pretty good. They had to come rescue him in a dingy. Pretty entertaining afternoon.

Anyways, the real reason i'm posting is because my brother's fiance is looking to get him a kite as a wedding present so I'm searching craigslist. I found a 12 meter 2007 LF havoc for cheap and was wondering if anyone has flown this kite. I feel like every online review I've ever read about any kite says it's the "best all around kite" so it's hard to take them seriously. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

-Kyle

re: the kite gift
Does thguy already know how to kite but not own a kite?
If yes, buy him a kite! Sure the havoc is ok, but wait for the thread to end when it becomes kite vs. kite comparison Rolling Eyes

IF HE DOSENT KITE ALREADY GET HIM LESSONS INSTEAD

If he already has newer/different kites than that one, don't do it.
that's all to say about it really....
...except congrats I guess....

I have a 12 Meter Cabrinha omega that he's used a half a dozen times and he does very well. I mainly wanted to make sure this kite has plenty of depower like the newer kites and no major design flaws or anything. I've been kiting a while, but have only used my own gear, so i don't know much about different kites.

Go with a 2008 Havoc or newer. 2007 was the first year for the model, and the 2008 is a lot better.

I saw quite a few 2007 Havocs on craigslist and figured there was probably a reason for it. Thanks for the help guys!
