OT - Surfboard Rental in Costa Rica (recommend a shop?)

My wife and I are heading to Playa Negra in Costa Rica to surf for 10 days in March. I'm battling with the proverbial question.....to rent boards or bring our own?

Does anyone have experience renting good surfboards in Tamarindo?

Anyone have any experience kiting in that area? We are not planning on heading North to kite.....it would be a matter of getting lucky with wind in the Tamarindo area.

There are plenty of places to rent boards in Tamarindo. No need to fly yours unless you can't leave home without it. Kiting there is tough as it is all off shore winds for the most part. Have a boat back-up lined up and you can give it a go. Usually pretty light though. Grab a session in Lake Arenal or head up north towards Nicaragua or Bahia Salinas. Have fun!
