This Saturday Rooster is shaping up. Maybe too much wind, but sunny. Ponds are calling for a lighter east wind with sun and with a approx 11:15 am high tide (super high tide at 10.3'), should make for a great late moring/early afternoon.

Heck yes! And I finally have a car that is capable of driving farther than the store! I'm so there if it works out. I haven't been to ponds yet but that's parking lot D correct? I'd rather go to Rooster if possible because it's closer. Would it be too windy for a 7 meter?
If anybody else is thinking of going and wants to carpool let me know. I'm not 100% positive I'm going yet but having another person interested would increase the odds. I'm out in the Beaverton area but I could pick you up on the way through town depending on where we go. PM me if you are interested.

High tides=no beach to launch at D. Have to do it from the riverside don't get caught with your panties down(wind). I've been thinking of a way to keep from going out the mouth in those conditions. You would go to buoy 10 and drop your kite around it directly upwind. As the current pulled you out, you could just hang on to your makeshift snag and wait for help. That would be a pic worth having!

I don't have gloves or hood but and could wear my shorty under my 4/3.
Is that just plain dumb?

Wind on the water has water temps too if you click on the "temps" button. You will have to zoom out from my link to see a water sensor because there isn't one around that area. Anyway looks like 66 degrees. Even though the water is still fairly warm it's pretty damn cold out there I would use a thick wetsuit and gloves/boots.
A 4/3 is probably ok if it's full body but I imagine you are going to be wishing you had gloves/boots if you don't pick some up. I know I would be but I wear my 5/4/3 wetsuit year round so maybe I'm a wuss. (In the summer mostly for the flotation)

Are you kidding me? If you think the water temp in the Columbia is 66 degrees right now, well, I've got some waterfront real estate located in the middle of the Nevada dessert for you to purchase; I'll give you a great deal.
Yes, your going to want all the ancillary gear this time of year; boots, gloves and hoodie.
You can put a shorty on underneath your full body wetsuit and it works. The only problem is it restricts your blood flow and movement. So it is a bit of a catch-22. It also stretches out the seams on your outer wetsuit.

100 degree rule = Air temp + water temp. Basically, if your math puts you below or just around 100 degrees, you're better of either heading to the mountain or getting yourself very prepared for some seriously COLD conditions....potentially life threatening.

Definitely hood and gloves with a 5/4! A shorty under a 4/3 will do the trick for a while but won't keep you warm long if you suddenly need to be in the water for a long while. It's pretty cold out there, go out prepared or hit the slopes instead.

Buy or borrow gloves and a hood. Similar to skiing conditions in winter--you might be OK without gloves and a hat for a short sesh but chances are you'll regret it, potentially big time if you end up in the water.
