It looks like we should get some kiteable west winds tomorrow with temps in the 50's and not too much rain. It could be one of the last days of the Gorge season before the cold rain and snow settles in for the winter.

EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE
.SUNDAY...CLOUDY. RAIN LIKELY IN THE MORNING...THEN A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGHS 54 TO 59. WEST WIND 5 TO 10 MPH INCREASING TO 10 TO 20 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.

I am hoping for one more day at Rufus.

The ikitesurf Maryhill wind sensor is the most accurate for Rufus, but it does require a paid account. The John Day Dam sensor (also on ikitesurf) is free and useful as well.
The forest service cam at Wishram will also give you a good idea if there are clouds and/or whitecaps east of The Dalles.

The current is usually only an issue in the spring.

Sunday was the Day. some blue sky and steady (enough) wind blessed rufus for sure.

"hlton", did you ever get out there?
I saw four other kiters, all fighting the frigid water this afternoon. It was so worth the numb hands afterword!

We hardcores kite till the snow falls.

I ended up windsurfing at Rowena on Sunday as it had more wind earlier in the day.
It wasn't cold at all (for November).
The water is still relatively warm compared to the Spring.
