Got a beach house with the family next weekend -4 days-. Wondering if I should bring gear. Is it OK to kite there or is the beach a "Road"? Any help? Kidding, kidding I grew up in that little town and learned how to kite just north of the approach. OP to Klipsan Beach approach is a pretty money downwinder, or if you want the full tour have someone follow you all the way to Long Beach. This time of year it's hit or miss, but rideable on north and south winds. The beach is considered a state highway, so keep your gear off the hardpack closest to where the sand gets soft (lots of tire tracks) and you should be fine. If it isn't windy there, check conditions further south... often times it'll be sub-10 on the peninsula and going off at Ft.
