- large contigent of Gorge kiters invaded the point last week.
- 10 campers and another dozen staying at Solo Sports.
- 8 straight days of gorge-type winds and small waves.
- water and air temps were cool and it felt more like a spring trip than fall.
- 3 days on 6m kites (gusting to 35), 3 days on 8m, and 2 days on 10m.
- kitesurfing head high waves on a 6m is actually more fun than I would have thought.
- first 2 days the waves were head high and each day got smaller until the last day when the waves were knee high.
- morning surf sessions were dominated by SUP surfers. Almost everyone staying at solo sports uses SUP for surfing. Is traditional longboard surfing going the way of the dinosaur?
- there were days with 20 kites on the water and 15 of them were SS RPMs.
- one group went from Hood River to Solo Sports in 25 hour drive time in a Your Rental Center Party van! |
